Shawn Benoit Would die to comprehend the extent of jesus' love for me.

that associated content of scripture really annoys me, because it elevates personal interests above the responsibility to devote the course of our lives to honoring god (end and beginning/all that is) because we were honored with life. a la the rat in the maze analogy degrades being and degrades god

crucifixion stories skew the actual message of the new testament into alignment with the old testament teachings about law and control (we are living under an administered debt). The failings of civilization consequenced by this change are obvious

Debbie Downer is nowhere found in the New Testament so I can find no validation of your position.

responding to the fact that we were honored with life by honoring god as being is a downer in comparison to reward pleasure seeking.....
The truth is never spoken because it is much more than probable that it is to late for its acceptance to mean anything
Jesus separated the spheres of law/control and the act of knowing god with his render unto caesar what is caesar's lesson so why is it that the new testament's focus changes with his death?

What is Caesar's? The law/authority, or, most likely worldly possessions.

the principal lesson of the old testament is that our passions must be governed by law; when passions flout the law god abandons us.

The principal lesson taught by jesus is that god is found in our relationships with others, when we know and honor them (treat them as being the value of ourselves) we are able to know god through them.

The crucifixion did lead to the founding of the Christian Church. My concern is that it is used to overshadow what Jesus says and instead serves as a recasting of the debt of original sin.... See MoreThe only holy purpose of the crucifixion was to found
the christian church. It fulfilled his life's only encompassing purpose and His church testifies as the living resurrection.

Dying for sins(the plural from the plural) means dying so that Christians (plural of individuals) would have a forum to know God (knowing him entails being sinless); Jesus's church. The establishment of his church resolves the ultimate sin in Christian theology, not knowing God. The Church (community of followers who live and practice the teachings of jesus...not a building), by its nature, provides God with to be felt praise resulting from love of knowingness (agape) and replaced the acceptableness of reward seeking obedience.

Communion defines Jesus's continuing resurrection so belief in its becoming (christian actualization) is the bedrock of the church's spiritual edifice. we participate in this fact of history as though we are guests at the last supper
4) baptism introduces new members to the church (parish) community. It is a local bond of special commonness

The purpose of Jesus mission was to bring to mankind gods wisdom and grace through the love of Jesus so that we may be filled with the fullness of god.

Stability of interpersonal relationships and self mastery were necessary in order to shed our earthly preoccupations and achieve peace within ourselves without which we are unable to focus on faith in Jesus through whom gods love for us is made manifest.

And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself (earthly preoccupation)."

And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live." Luke 10:25-28

The lawyer asks the teacher Jesus how to have eternal life and Jesus replied "Read"... "The Law"..... "Obey the Law" believe in God and love your neighbor.... See More

Why in front of these people would Jesus not tell them what Christians of today are saying that there is no way to heaven except through blood of Jesus, why would Jesus contradict today's Christians?

"Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19

Why would Jesus Teach this if he came so that his blood can relax the Law, why is it when he was on earth, he Taught Not to Relax the Law? And Those who follow the Laws will be the Highest in Heaven.

"Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Matthew 7:21

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father." John 14:12

I know I have this to you before: Paul has distorted the teachings of Jesus by orienting them as inward looking and opened to be domineered by suggestion (life of contemplation (finding the word?) vs. The life of activity (living the word).

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is... See More no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

The practice of quoting selected verses of scripture and reducing their meaning to a narrowly defined preconception is a useful tool of the fundamentalists, self-righteous, and naysayers. "you are misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of god."
